Dr. Selwyn Clarke's account of his activities during the occupation of Hong Kong is at 5. In Appendix 2 to that account he gives the names of personnel of his Department who gave distinguished service. Dr. Selwyn Clarke mentioned this matter to ne recently and said he hoped that these names were being considered in connection with the Birthday Honours List. I am very sorry to find that I have not previously sent you this report to see and drawn particular attention to Appendix 2. A copy of it was sent for registration on Dr. Selwyn Clarke's P.F.

Since dictating the above I have received your loose minute of the 1st of January, enclosing some notes by Dr. Selwyn Clarke and a copy of Appendix II of his reports have minuted to you separately on that.

As you have this copy of Appendix II may this file be sent to Mr. Maxle and Mr. Lloyd re my minute of the 12th December.

Mr. Mayle.

I had intercepted this file in order to let Mr. Seel see the list of personnel who gave distinguished service in Hong Kong during the Japanese occupation, which is given in Appendix II of Dr. Selwyn Clarke's report at b. I find that

I had also omitted to take any action in regard to X

on page 10 of that report when I previously minuted on it. I suggest that we should send to the Foreign Office this list of Japanese nations who gave assistance to Dr. Selwyn Clarke.
